Fall/Winter 2010 collection - images from Style.com, click to see more.I know that everyone is supposed to be getting excited about beige and 'camel' at the moment (if that is even possible, without being some sort of oxymoron), but Mary Katrantzou's work is just fantastic and she is noted, of course, for her bright, bold prints. Katrantzou (who is a young, London-based designer) is one of my favourite designers of the moment, because her prints are so bold and uplifting, and so modern and luxurious. Print is always a high-risk area in fashion, but Katrantzou executes everything beautifully (Anna Dello Russo is a fan). I was particularly reminded of this fact when I came across these close-up shots of her FW10 collection:
The spring/summer 2010 collection, which is in stores now, does not disappoint either:
Dress from Luisa via Roma.
Dresses from Browns.
Skirt from Colette.Close-up details:

So good! See more on her website (disregard the ridiculous Coco Chanel quote).

(when I saw the first pics I was instantly reminded of Rodarte for some odd reason) but anywho these prints are so effing AMAZING!!!
ReplyDeleteI think the CC quote is there because the FW09/10 collection is inspired by vintage perfume bottles. Great post...her prints are epic.
ReplyDeleteI'm interning there this Summer, very excited!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful prints!! Good find..
ReplyDeleteI loved her AW10 collection and the trompe l'oeil prints but I haven't seen much press on it, which is a shame.
ReplyDeleteThis is actually my FAVOURITE Mary K collection so far... I love that she was inspired by that Fragonard swing painting...
ReplyDeleteI personally preferred Spring/Summer 2010, it. just seemed more modern to me.
