OVERLOAD

As you will doubtless know (as indeed anyone who reads fashion blogs knows) Anna dello Russo is pretty much the embodiment of the word fabulous. She is the Editor at Large of Vogue Japan, having spent 18 years at Condé Nast, including stints as Fashion Editor of Italian Vogue and Editor of L'Uomo Vogue. What she is perhaps best know for, however, is her extraordinary dress sense, which shows off her equally extraordinary fashion collection to full effect (a typical day for Anna dello Russo involves slipping from the latest runway Balenciaga into the latest runway Dolce & Gabbana before changing into next season's Balmain in time for dinner).

This is a woman who Helmut Newton once described as a "fashion maniac," who owns 4,000 pairs of shoes and who has two apartments next door to each other, one of which is solely to house her clothes and accessories. Her style is totally OTT with little restraint, but that's why I love it so much. You can't help but admire her sheer passion for, and dedication to, fashion, and her never-compromised level of glamour, all held together with just the right amount of craziness.

The reason for the major OVERLOAD in this post, though, (as if pictures of ADR aren't enough..!) is this video of her in her room at the Paris Ritz during fashion week, showing off her 'travel' wardrobe... it's like some sort of incredible fashion dream.. these are the clothes and accessories, all beautifully stored in the Ritz wardrobe, that she brought for ONE WEEK of shows!!

w-o-w

(it's thanks to Jane Aldridge/Sea of Shoes' Twitter that this video came to my attention; when she's older she's probably going to be the next Anna dello Russo, albeit less Italian glamour, more avante-garde fashion).

  1. Oh my. I think I've found my role model.

(re: your comment on my blog, I'm flattered you enjoy reading my rambles. Netto is indeed Danish and sadly no, I'm not Swedish, I'm British. Though these days only by passport.)

  2. OMG. she is awe-inspiring. "sometimes i feel like a clown." i would have had a happier childhood if the entertainment at birthday parties had of been more like this and less of the chucky.

  9. I don't mean to offend any one, but those two girls in the second picture look like a pair of vultures looking for dead meat! Fashion sometimes it's simply unwearable.
