Runway pictures from Style.com.There's something rather spectacular about the heavily decorated 'tribal' platform sandals that Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton shoe designer, Fabrizio Viti, came up with for Vuitton's spring/summer 2009 collection. These are shoes for 21st century fashion warriors (or something like that). Amazingly, the Spicy shoes (as they are named) have been put into commercial production, despite looking complicated to make, and the six variations available look pleasingly similar to the ones that were shown on the runway:
Unsurprisingly, they're not cheap - prices range from £1,070 to £1930 (approx $1,500 - $2,700) - but they are pretty special pieces. They remind us a little of Prada's 'ethnic' phase in 2005, and we just love the detailing, the shape, the height... The details are indeed extraordinary, a little like someone's raided the sewing supplies, but none the worse for it:

Do you know how high they are?
ReplyDeleteI really want the black one. It'ssssss aaaamaaaazing.
I'm not sure, sorry - haven't yet closely examined them in person.. some seem to be higher than others, I'd say probably 5-6 inches..
