Daily Mail inspired by Hapsical?

The post we did about male leggings in November 2008 (here) was so popular that now it has the dubious honour of being the second result that comes up on Google if you search for "male leggings," should you be so inclined to search for such things.

Fast forward to 9th March 2009 and the Daily Mail, a British tabloid newspaper, ran a piece about male leggings/meggings (here), and we can't help but wonder if they were a little inspired by Hapsical. The reason being, they said: "Marni and Calvin Klein first dabbled with the trend back in 2007, sending their scrawny-legged models down the runway in brightly-coloured varieties. The following year Alexandra [sic] McQueen embraced the look with an eye-catching red leather pair and Martin Margiela went all out glam with a spangly gold-sequined-clad model." There would be two ways to find out which big designers did male leggings, what they looked like, and in which years (1) wade through pictures of nearly every men's designer collection from the last few years (as we did for our post) to spot leggings or (2) Google "male leggings" (Google, the journalist's best friend), click the second result (i.e. us), and then be 'inspired'. What would you do if you were a time-pressed journalist trying to knock off 500 words on the matter?

We're not trying to be big-headed, and we don't mind at all.. actually we rather like the idea that thanks to us hundreds of thousands of disapproving Daily Mail readers across Britain who don't 'get' fashion will now know their 2008 Margiela glitter meggings from their 2007 Marni meggings! The power of the internet.. the transition from online media to print media.. how exciting!

  1. and i bought some leggings last month, from american apparel. they sort of long johns as they have a cuff at the bottom. ive been wearing them under ripped jeans for the old 80s hair rock look.

not sure if id go with just leggings, id give it a go if i have the right long tops/cardis though.
